Waldorf Track and Field and XC

Track and Field

Welcome to the 2012 season. Week two has begun with a seventh grade girls practice on Wednesday. Friday we will continue with practicing our starts and working on our form using drills, and circuit training. The  group is enthusiastic, and I am looking forward to working with the team towards a successful season.
Objective
Running, throwing, and jumping are explored through Track and Field. Through drills, and specific starting, and relay practice we will get conditioned for a good showing at our two meets. The athletes will chose what they want to try, and get a chance to learn about all of the events offered. It is with pride, beauty, style and grace we will represent Haleakala Waldorf School in the community.

Practice:
3:00-4:15, every Wednesday (2/29, 3/7), and Friday (3/2, 3/9) afternoon at Kula Park located below the Kula Fire Station.
The last two weeks will be more specific training in the athletes race form, and overall speed. Starting at the end of week two we will also work on starts, and relay exchanges.

        Cross Country
        Running is Fun
We finished up our season with a terrific showing at the Youth Championships at Eddie Tam. The course was relatively flat, and on the soft grass, and the conditions were sunny, and warm. We followed the running with a short ceremony of certificates for the runners, and a sweet potluck. Thank you Cross Country team for making it such a fun season!

Running is a free expression of play. The purpose of this years Haleakala Waldorf School Cross Country (XC) team is to have fun engaging in community running, explore the fundamental elements of running, and to represent our school with confidence as a team.
Getting Prepared Meet #2 Giggle Hill: 1.5 miles.
Through our Cross Country experience we facilitate the expansion of the fundamental elements of running by teaching the technical aspects of running. Through coordination, technical exercise, building the whole body, and the act of running different distances we build team unity, individual strength, and pride in representing HWS with beauty, style, and grace.
