Aloha Waldorf Summer is Here

Bright and beautiful orchid gift. Thank You to Rio and Family.

Summer is here. The last day of school at Haleakala Waldorf was June 7th, and the day was sweet. I attended the closing circle where all the grade school and middle school children get in a circle, and the faculty, and staff make a circle around them. Each circle moves in opposite directions, and we all give our summer wishes, and goodbye's. After five years I am moving on from Waldorf, and the staff and faculty took words out of my mouth when I received  a silver Hawaiian bracelet as a parting gift.
The bracelet is engraved with the beautiful flora and fauna of the island of Hawaii. Heliconia, Anthurium, Bird of Paradise, Breadfruit, and Hibiscus are a few of the detailed pictures on this special piece.
I am grateful for the job watching over the children after school over the years. The relationships formed with all the students, and their families are very special to me. The faculty and staff is filled with wonderful people, and teachers who inspire, and I am happy to know them. When I first started this blog, the community of the school was right there for me. I also feel fortunate to have been able to coach the track and field, and cross country teams the last two years. The runners and athletes I came across taught me so much, and we had a lot of fun together. I know I'll be running with them again, and so many new up and coming runners as well.

Teaching is such a diverse and dynamic profession. I like that it can change at any moment, and in that spirit I will be approaching my next endeavor as a professional substitute for the '13-'14 school year for the D.O.E., and Kamehameha Elementary School. I also look forward to helping out Cross Country and Track and Field teams at Seabury Hall.
Summer is Here
I end this post with this image of Joe Joe. This napping around in the middle of the day tells me that summer has arrived. Happy Summer.
